  244.         high-impact security glazing assemblies.

  310. PART 3  EXECUTION

  312. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  313.  
  314.     A.  Inspect pallets upon delivery for evidence of damage.
  315.  
  316.     B.  Inspect and verify that frame openings are correct size
  317.         and conform to recommendations of the plastic glazing
  318.         sheet manufacturer.
  319.  
  320. 3.2 PREPARATION
  321.  
  322.     A.  Clean frame contact surfaces with compatible solvent and
  323.         wipe dry.  Do not allow solvent to pool in glazing
  324.         channels.
  325.  
  326.     B.  Immediately prior to installation, expose glazing edges
  327.         of plastic sheet by peeling back factory-applied
  328.         protective masking to a dimension sufficient for edge
  329.         engagement.
  330.  
  331. 3.3 INSTALLATION
  332.  
  333.     A.  Install plastic glazing in accordance with manufacturer's
  334.         recommendations for edge engagement and expansion
  335.         allowance.
  336.  
  337.     B.  Employ only sealants and glazing accessories that have
  338.         been approved by manufacturer of plastic glazing sheet.
  339.  
  340.     C.  Remove protective masking immediately after all glazing
  341.         operations are completed.
  342.  
  343. 3.4 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
  344.  
  345.     A.  If installed properly, plastic glazing should not require
  346.         additional cleaning after de-masking.  If cleaning
  347.         becomes necessary, comply with manufacturer's
  348.         instructions, and use only cleaning agents and techniques
  349.         that have been approved by the manufacturer.
  350.  
  351. 3.5 PROTECTION
  352.  
  353.     A.  Comply with provisions of Section 01700 for protecting
  354.         installed work.
  355.  
  356.     B.  Affix polyethylene film or other covering approved by
  357.         plastic glazing sheet manufacturer to framing members, as
  358.         required to protect plastic glazing from other
  359.         construction operations.
  360.  
  361. 3.6 SCHEDULE
  362. NOTE ** Possibly provide a schedule here if several types
  363.         of plastic glazing are required.  Alternatively,
  364.         plastic glazing could be included in a glazing
  365.         schedule on the drawings or in Section 08800, with
  366.         a cross reference in this section.
